Not only does Rovos Rail offer trips from Cape Town and Pretoria, making fantastic stops in between. In addition, we now offer special excursions through gorgeous destinations like Dar Es Salaam, Zambia, Victoria Falls, and even the illustrious Etosha Pan National Park.
With our new journey, you will be on board for 15 magical days as we cover 1900 miles of various African landscapes. On the Rovos Rail Copper Trail, you will go through the winding trails of Zambia, cruise along the Kafue River to see the sunset in all of its glory, and even take on a guided safari to see the infamous ‘Big 5’, and much more!
From sun up to sun down, the Rovos Rail Copper Trail promises to provide our passengers with breathtaking views, fantastic excursions, and new adventures for everyone to explore. So take a chance and experience the trip of a lifetime while still having all the comforts of modern technology in distinguished suites’ lap of true luxury.
Passengers will have access to suites with full bathrooms, a choice of twin or double beds, a bar service catered to their needs, and 24-hour room service. If that weren’t enough, passengers would also have access to limited laundry services, private guided tours, and even access to hairstylists and doctors! So you have covered health, fashion, and luxury Rovos Rail from your head to your toes.
It should also be noted that passengers will receive the following perks in their packages: flights to and from South Luangwa, an overnight bag, all meals included, and standard drinks passengers have on board.

Departure From Victoria Falls to Lobito
Look no further if you’re wondering what is in store on our remarkable new trail. You can expect an itinerary that would follow a similar path to the one below and more on your stay with us:
Day One
On day one, you will board the train at 4 pm at Victoria Falls station. Once the train has departed, it is essential to ensure that all relevant documents, such as your passport, are handed to the administration deputy or train manager for smooth border crossing.
Tea will be served at 4:30 pm in the observation cars, giving passengers plenty of time to freshen up and get ready to mingle with others.
A formal dinner will kick start the journey, and dinner will be served at 7:30 pm in the dining car.
Day Two
On day two, breakfast will be served in the dining cars from 7-10 am. Lunch will follow shortly and be served at 12:30 pm in the dining cars.
By lunchtime, the train will travel along the Kafue railway bridge, providing passengers with a breathtaking panoramic view of the Kafue’s diverse landscape.
At 2:30 pm, passengers will leave the train for their first excursion, a cruise on the Kafue River. There is truly nothing more beautiful than enjoying the sunset from the riverbed. Passengers will have a return time of 6:30 pm, giving them time to freshen up for dinner.
Dinner will be served in the dining cars at 7:30 pm as the train continues en route to Lusaka.
Day Three
Breakfast will be available in the dining cars from 7-9 am, giving passengers time to fuel their energy for their next big excursion!
From 9 am to noon, passengers will be taken to the Elephant Sanctuary. The passengers can see how the majestic Elephant is recuperated and trained for re-entry into the wild at this Elephant Sanctuary.
By 1 pm, passengers are expected to return to the train and will be welcomed back with a hearty lunch in the dining cars. During this time, the train will continue to travel through Lusaka to the capital of Kabwe.
Tea will be available in the observation cars at 4:30 pm, and dinner will be served from 19h30 in the dining cars as the train prepares for Kapiri Mposhi.
Day Four
Days four to seven will include a three-night stay in the elegant and sought-after South Luangwa National Park. Breakfast will be available in the dining cars from 7 am until departing for the overnight stay.
At 10 am, passengers will be transported to the airstrip founded for exclusive travel to and from the South Luangwa National Park.
After a short flight, once the destination has been reached, passengers will then be transported to the private camps at Luangwa Valley for check-ins.
From 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, passengers will be taken on an exhilarating and private tour of the game drive in Luangwa Valley.
After such a big excursion, passengers will return to the accommodation and have some leisure time before dinner is served at 7:30 pm.
Day Five
A substantial continental breakfast will be served from 6:30 am for all interested passengers to give passengers the fuel to keep them energized for the big day ahead.
From 6:30 am, passengers will depart from the train to head on a 3-hour private game drive in South Luangwa National Park.
Brunch will be served from 10 am, and passengers will have free or leisure time to explore or relax.
At 3:30 pm, an additional afternoon drive will occur, allowing passengers to see more of South Luangwa National Park.
To end a fabulous day, dinner will be served in the dining car at 7:30 pm.
Day Six
Day six will be another day spent underneath the beautiful Luangwa sun! A continental breakfast will be served from 6 am onwards, allowing passengers to refuel before going on their next excursion.
From 6:30 am, interested passengers will be taken on a morning game drive. Thus, passengers can see the sunrise and illuminate the beauty of the South Luangwa National Park.
A leisure brunch will be served at 10 am, after which passengers get free time.
Another game drive will be scheduled for the afternoon at 3:30 pm to give passengers a full panoramic view of the game drive!
Diners will be served from 7:30 pm at the Luangwa National Park camps and will have a casual dress theme.
Day Seven
From 7 am to noon, there will be a flurry of activities. Then, on day seven, it will be time to continue the journey by train so that passengers will head to the airstrip for their next flight. Again, passengers are advised to pack up and be ready to leave with an early check-out time.
At noon, passengers will rejoin the train at the Ndola Station. Lunch will be served in the dining cars at 1 pm, giving passengers time to settle into their suites before eating a delicious lunch.
Tea will be available in the lounge and observation car at 4:30 pm, and dinner will be served in the dining car from 7:30 pm as the train continues en route to Kolwazi.
Day Eight
Breakfast will be available from 6-8 am before the passengers leave the train at 8 am to take a closer look at Lubumbashi with a city tour!
Passengers will return at 11 am, giving passengers ample time to explore and have fun before continuing their journey to Lukui.
Lunch will be served in the dining cars at 1 pm, and passengers will be able to see a glimpse of Luisha, an old copper mine.
From 4:30 pm, tea will be served in the lounge and observation cars, and dinner will be served from 7:30 pm in the dining car and will have a formal theme.
Day Nine
The day will begin with breakfast from 6-8 am in the dining cars.
At 8 am, once all passengers have eaten, everyone will disembark the train and head for a private tour of the Kolwezi copper mine.
Lunch will be held at the Kalwebi Lodge, and passengers will have free time to roam and engage with one another before the return at 1 pm.
Tea will be readily available in the lounge and observation cars at 3:30 pm for those interested.
A formal dinner will be held in the dining cars at 7:30 pm, and passengers will have a beautiful view as the train continues en route to Mutshatsa.
Day Ten
Day ten will be a full leisure day aboard the train. Leisure days allow passengers to relax and unwind from all the exciting excursions happening along the journey.
As usual, breakfast will be served in the dining car at the standard time from 7-10 am.
At 1 pm, lunch will be served in the dining car as the train passes through Kakopa towards Malonga.
Tea will be served in the lounge, and observation cars at 4:30 pm, with a formal dinner, served in the dining car from 19h30.
It is advised that passengers set all of their watches and time back by an hour to account for the time difference between the time zones in Africa.
Day Eleven
Passengers can enjoy breakfast in the dining cars from 7-10 am.
Passengers will be taken on an exciting walking tour of Luau, allowing you to explore your surroundings in a fun and easy way. The train will depart for Luena by noon once passengers have returned to the train.
A delicious lunch will be served in the dining cars from 1 pm. Tea will be held in the dining car at 4:30 pm as the train travels along the Cassai River, and if passengers are lucky, they will get a glimpse of the local fisherman hard at work.
A formal dinner will be served from 7:30 pm in the dining cars as the train continues en route to Lucena.
Day Twelve
Breakfast will be served and available in the dining cars from 7-10 am.
From 10 am, passengers can take a walking tour of Luena and learn a bit more about the colorful history of Angola.
By 11 am, passengers can take in their surroundings as the train departs for Tchicala Tcholohanga. Lunch will be served in the dining cars from 1 pm.
Tea will be available in the lounge and observation cars from 4:30 pm.
A formal dinner will be served in the dining car from 7:30 pm as the train continues en route to Kuito.
Day Thirteen
From 7-9 pm, a hearty breakfast will be served and available in the dining cars for all passengers who want to indulge in breakfast.
By 9 am, passengers can take an excursion from the train and take a chance to learn more about the historically rich town of Kuito.
Once all passengers have returned to the train, the train will depart for Huambo at 11 am. Lunch and tea will be served at their usual times in the dining cars, lounge, and observation cars, respectively.
Lastly, dinner will be served in the dining car from 19h30 and will follow a formal theme. The train will head towards Huambo throughout the night.
Day Fourteen
The day will start bright and early, with breakfast served in the dining cars from 7-9 am. Then, at 9 am, passengers will embark on another exciting adventure together.
At 9 am, passengers will receive a private tour of the beautiful Hambo. Passengers will be expected to return to the train by 11 am so that the train can resume its pathway to the final destination.
Lunch will be served from 1 pm in the dining cars, and tea will follow in the lounge and observation cars at 4:30 pm.
To end the night, passengers will attend a formal dinner as the train heads for the city of Cuba.
Day Fifteen
On the final day of travel, it is essential for [passengers to ensure that their luggage is ready and that their passports have been handed back to them by the relevant authorities.
Breakfast will be served in the dining cars from 7-9:30 am, after which passengers will ready themselves for departure as the train docks at the final destination of Lobito Station in Angola.
